Everything Updated!

Hey everyone! As you know this week we continued to learned about The Incredible Hulk this week and explored the nature of sin. As we discussed earlier, Bruce Banner is held captive by a monster that dwells deep down inside of him. In a personal revelation Bruce Banner eventually came to realize that the Hulk was actually all of Bruce's anger, resentment, and hatred that bubbled to the surface whenever he became angry. In this way, the Hulk was the real Bruce Banner.

We then discussed how Bruce Banner became the Hulk as a result of others who sinned against him. The young man who entered into the testing grounds on a dare, and the lab assistant who didn't stop the bomb from going off. Sometimes, it's not our sin that causes us pain, but that of others.

Our youth lesson this week focused on forgiveness, and forgiving others. We learned how if we don't forgive others, the hulk inside all of us stands a better chance of bubbling to the surface. Forgiving others is how we are free, healed and ready to serve our Lord.

Finally, let's all meet at the Connection on October 31st for our Trick-Or-Treat Outreach Event. Meet at 6:00 and we'll head out trick or treating and handing out invites to church. After we are finished we'll head back to the connection and have smores and hotdogs in our new firepit.

Superman!

Hey Guys!

Well didn't we have an exciting week in Youth! This Sunday we discussed Superman and how the Last Son of Krypton was sent by his Father to save the world. We discussed how we knew that each of us knows that the world is not as it should be. That we need saving. We also have to acknowledge that we cannot save ourselves. And so in that vein people created Superman.

Created by two Jewish men during the fires of WWII Superman became an image of hope. That justice and goodness still existed. Since then Superman fluctuates in and out of popularity but is most popular when our nation is fearful for it's future.

We discussed how in the same way Superman was sent by his Father to save the world, so was Jesus. Both were adopted by smalltown parents and both were more than they seemed at first glance.

The most exciting thing though is the fact that in the same way the Father sent Jesus, he is also sending us. We are called to be light in the darkness, joy in the midst of brokenness. That is why it is so important for us to be heroic and share Jesus' love with others. We are meant to share Christ's salvation with the world.

Next Sunday however, we will be headed up to Epworth Forest(North Webster, IN) for the Illuminate Fall Youth Rally. Tickets are $7.00 and we will leave from the downtown campus at 3:45.

I think that's it for now but in the meantime... Do no harm, do good, and remain in the love of God.

Up! Up and away!

So here we are with our newly rennovated youth blog! I stripped and cleaned house so that we can rally ourselves into a new youth year. Special thanks to all those wonderful students who were at youth group this Sunday. We had a fantastic time didn't we? There is one problem though... Who is this horrible supervillan who tried to steal our theme verses? For those of you who don't know our theme this year, it's "Superheroes Too!" and is based loosely on the book "So Who Needs a Superhero?"

Anyway, it must have set something in motion because apparently we have a supervillan right in our very own congregation. They stole our theme verses and encased them in a solid block of ice!!! We will receive clues throughout the year as to the identity of the supervillan!

Also, mark your calendars as we will be loading up the church vans and heading up to Epworth Forest on September 21, 2008 for the Illuminate Fall Youth Rally! We will leave from the downtown campus at 3:45 and admission is $7.00. Let me know if you need financial assistence.

Beyond that, expect to be getting some email from me at our new youth group email: WarsawFumcYouth@Rocketmail.com. Check your spam filters and be sure you don't block us out as you will be getting some very important information and updates!

Finally, Let's all look forward to this Sunday's lesson: "Superman" where we discuss how a loving Father sent his son to save the world... There will be plenty of surprises.

In the meantime remember: Do no harm! Do Good! Stay in the love of God!
